Warrior Champions tells the emotional and inspiring story of a group of severely wounded American Soldiers, as they fight to turn nightmares of war into Olympic dreams. Iraq War Veterans Kortney Clemons, Scott Winkler, Melissa Stockwell, and Carlos Leon, as little as a year after losing limbs and suffering paralysis fighting for their country in Iraq. The movie will premiere May14th & 15th at the Fort Discovery theater. Friday night’s premiere will allow you to not only view the movie but also meet Scott and the Renauld brothers! Tickets are $100. We will have multiple showings of the movie on Saturday and it will be open to the public.

On June 20, over 80 Soldiers from all four battalions of the 15th Regimental Signal Brigade and the Noncommissioned Officers Academy teamed up with the CMFA and MCG Health to put on an adaptive water skiing clinic on Lake Thurmond. More than 50 participants with disabilities and their Families enjoyed a day at the lake swimming, tubing, and waterskiing.

Alan Washington’s life changed on Oct. 27, 1987. A large crate fell on his back as he was working on a Navy cargo ship in San Diego, and it broke his 10th and 11th vertebra. The accident left the Augusta man paralyzed from the waist down. What took away the use of his legs, however, could not take away his spirit.

Watch out Harlem Globetrotters… here come the Augusta Bulldogs! The Augusta Bulldogs just made their first trip to the NWBA National Championships. Everyone had a great time in Denver, Colorado in March. In fact, the team had so much fun they’ve only taken two months off! Practices start up again Wednesday June 3rd at Garrett Community Center. Clemson University recreation therapy students helped with Operation P.L.A.Y. on Saturday afternoon at Clemson. Operation P.L.A.Y. is a program for injured veterans and enlisted service men and women to help them recover through recreational activities such as tennis and golf.
